Our Second Saturday Tree Care Day on December 9th was at Benicia State Recreation Area. This event was originally scheduled in October, but was cancelled due to the smoke created by the wildfires to the north. Eight of the 22 tree saplings at this site have been lost since they were planted in 2014. Volunteers replanted these locations using acorns collected last September from the hills between Benicia and Cordelia. The remaining tree saplings were prepped to capture as much moisture as possible in anticipation of our rainy season. Let’s hope for rain soon!
