President forms Unitied States One Trillion Trees Interagency Council.
Early this year, the World Economic Forum launched a global initiative to grow, restore and conserve 1 trillion trees around the world in a bid to restore biodiverstiy and help fight climate change. This project aims to unite governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and individuals in a “mass-scale nature restoration.” On October 13th, a Presidential Executive Order charged the U.S. One Trillion Trees Interagency Council to develop, coordinate and promote Federal Government interactions with the One Trillion Trees Initiative on tree growing, restoration, and conservation, and to also coordinate with key stakeholders to help advance the initiative.
