Tree Care Days During COVID-19

Tree Care Days During COVID-19

Building Community While Staying Safe

The Board of Directors of the Benicia Tree Foundation has reviewed the guidance provided by the Solano County Public Health Department to determine how it can safely re-initiate Tree Care Days as the Shelter-at-Home order is relaxed for the COVID-19 public health emergency.  This guidance has been updated as of July 10, 2020 and it will be followed as we recruit volunteers for our Tree Care Days. These Tree Care Days will be held outdoors at one of our project sites and will be conducted according to the following practices:

  • All volunteers must wear a mask when when maintaining a physical distance of six feet from persons who are not members of the same household or residence is not feasible.  These situations will occur during Tree Care Day events.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or a sleeve instead of your hand.
  • To avoid large crowds, no more than 10 volunteers will be allowed at a Tree Care Day (we ask volunteers to register at our website so we can track attendance).
  • To support social distancing, all volunteers will be asked to work individually, unless they are from the same household.
  • All shared tools will be disinfected before and after each Tree Care Day.
  • Latex gloves will be available to use underneath work gloves.

If you’re experiencing the following symptoms, please don’t volunteer and seek the advice of your doctor:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headaches
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
