Volunteers from Benicia High helped reforest the west school parking area on April 29th. Three volunteer teams planted three 15-gallon Pistacia ‘Red Push’. Soil moisture was good but the roots from the monterey pine needed to be removed from each planting pit.
We all agreed it was a challenging project, but the need to heal from the recent loss of seven large mature trees needs to continue. Currently, this 120-space asphalt parking area is without any tree shade.
