Volunteers met on at Benicia Housing Authority's Capitol Heights neighborhood for our Third Thursday Tree Care Day in February. Of the 31 trees planted in 2015, 29 trees are still growing. Most of the trees are in great shape, but a few are struggling due to limb damage. The trees were mulched, most all the tree stakes have been removed, and some needed structural pruning as you can see from the photos below. The last Tree Care Day for this site was in August 2018, when the trees were watered and mulched. The Benicia Tree Foundation tries to schedule at least one Tree Care Day annually at each of its projects sites.
