By the end of April, Benicia High School will have 80 new trees on its campus, said Wolfram Alderson, executive director of the Benicia Tree Foundation. And the first step toward the tree planting happens Saturday.

The trees are coming through a collaboration between the foundation, the Benicia Unified School District and the California Native Plant Society. The foundation and the school district received a California ReLeaf grant to pay for the trees, Alderson said.

The project to get them planted will be divided into three phases, starting with site preparation. That’s what volunteers will be doing Saturday morning.
